Do I really need a web site?
Most businesses and organisations have web sites. It is a great way to advertise your business and attract new customers. An online portfolio can also stand you in good stead for future employment. It is an invaluable business tool: where else could you advertise worldwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year?
How much will it cost?
It is virtually impossible to give a set price. You can be assured though, that there will be no hidden charges. At Alart Design we make sure your requirements are fully discussed and all the necessary costs and labour are taken into account before setting a final price for your site.
Will I get support after my site is built?
Yes: we will give you a year's free support and updates on your existing website.
What is a URL?
It stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the address that is typed in to view a web page.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the specific name that you register on the internet. The domain name for Alart is alartdesign.co.nz. It is used in the URL and in email and other internet addresses.
Will I have an email account with my site?
Yes: we will help you set up an account with your own personal email address dedicated to your web site.
How long will it take to build my site?
That is dependent on a number of factors. We need to design a site and present it to you. We usually start with a jpg image of your website layout, when approved we build you the actual html template; this will be emailed to you as a link to our testing server for you to view. When approved, we then begin the building process, we will work with you to get the content right. Once that is done, we are ready for final testing and uploading to the web server. An average site of about 10 pages might take 3-4 weeks before it goes live.
Do I really need a web designer?
You could probably build a site yourself but it takes years to learn the software and coding techniques. The learning is ongoing as web technology continues to evolve. You may find a great template to use but the chances of the site being picked up by Google or other search engines is very slim. A website requires Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in order to be picked up successfully.
